About Beat The Heat HVAC Solutions
Ruben Vela founded Beat The Heat to bring honest HVAC service to Corpus Christi with 15+ years of expertise.

Doing what you love isn’t work
I got my first break in 2010 when a big chain hired me as a helper. The hard work and long hours weren’t a surprise, but I wasn’t ready for what happened next.
Something clicked. I always loved to work with my hands and solve problems, but now somebody was paying me, and it felt weird. It felt too good to be true.
I decided to learn everything I could about the business, and for the next 13 years, that’s exactly what I did. Before I knew it I was doing bigger and bigger jobs and solving harder and harder problems.
Over time, a dream started to take shape. One day, I’d go out on my own and start my own business. I started saving and working as much overtime as possible.
I made a promise to myself that I’d treat my customers better. There were a lot of things going on that I didn’t agree with, and I told myself we’d treat people like partners, not dollar signs.
After all those years of planning and saving, I was finally ready. In 2024, we opened our doors and never looked back. Instead of focusing on how much we could make, we focused on doing the absolute best job possible.
That was the right decision because we’ve been growing ever since we went on our first service call. Our decision to skip commissioned salespeople was also the right call.
Our technicians care about one thing, and that’s your satisfaction. If it can be fixed, we fix it, and if something needs to be replaced, we take the time to explain all your options in plain English.
Nothing would make me happier than to retire one day and turn the business over to my two sons. Until then, we’ll keep treating customers like family and delivering results all year long.
Consider this an invitation to find out why we keep growing, and our customers tell their friends and neighbors about us.
Sincerely,

Call your
comfort partner

The “ton” in AC sizing has nothing to do with weight. It refers to the cooling power of one ton of melting ice — about 12,000 BTUs per hour.
Frequently Asked Questions About Beat The Heat HVAC
Ruben Vela owns and operates Beat The Heat HVAC Solutions. He founded the company with a simple goal: give Corpus Christi homeowners an HVAC contractor they can actually trust. Ruben isn’t a businessman who hired some technicians. He’s a technician who started a business. He’s been doing this work with his own hands since 2010, troubleshooting compressors, brazing refrigerant lines, replacing blower motors, and crawling through attics in the South Texas heat. When you call Beat The Heat, you might get Ruben on the phone. When a technician comes to your home, Ruben trained that person and stands behind their work. That’s different from calling a 1-800 number and hoping whoever shows up knows what they’re doing.
Ruben has over 16 years of hands-on HVAC experience, starting in 2010. That’s not 16 years of managing an office or selling systems. That’s 16 years of diagnosing why an AC won’t cool, identifying refrigerant leaks, replacing burned-out capacitors, installing new ductwork, and solving the kinds of problems that only come with real field experience. He’s worked on thousands of systems across South Texas, from brand-new high-efficiency heat pumps to 30-year-old units that somehow keep running. He understands what works in coastal environments, which equipment holds up to salt air, and which shortcuts cause problems down the road. That experience shows in the quality of our work.
Yes, completely. We’re a Corpus Christi company owned by a Corpus Christi resident, serving Corpus Christi families. We’re not a franchise paying fees to some corporate headquarters in another state. We don’t answer to investors or regional managers. Every decision about how we run this business, how we treat customers, and what standards we hold ourselves to is made right here. When you support Beat The Heat, you’re supporting a local family, not padding the profits of a national corporation. We shop at the same stores you do, deal with the same humidity you do, and understand what it’s like when your AC goes out in August.
We hold a Texas HVAC Contractor License issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, commonly called TDLR. This is the state’s official credential verifying that we’ve passed examinations covering heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical systems, and safety codes. It also requires documenting at least four years of supervised work experience before you can even apply. We also maintain EPA Section 608 Certification, which is required by federal law for anyone who handles refrigerants. There are different levels of 608 certification, and we hold Universal certification, which covers all equipment types. This means we can legally and safely work on refrigerant systems of any size, from small mini-splits to large commercial rooftop units.
Absolutely. We offer a satisfaction guarantee on all our work. If something isn’t right, call us and we’ll come back to fix it at no additional charge. We don’t make excuses, blame the equipment, or try to upsell you something else. We just make it right. Ruben’s philosophy is simple: a customer should feel like they got more value than they paid for. If you finish a job feeling like you overpaid or got less than promised, we failed. Our reputation depends on happy customers who tell their friends and neighbors. The guarantee is our way of backing up that commitment with action, not just words.
Ruben saw how other HVAC companies operated and knew he could do better. Too many companies push unnecessary replacements, quote inflated prices, send inexperienced technicians, or treat customers like transactions instead of people. Ruben wanted to build something different. His goal is to be a long-term partner to his customers, not just someone who shows up once and disappears. He wants to help your system last as long as possible through proper maintenance, honest repairs, and straight talk about when replacement actually makes sense. He’s not trying to build an empire with 50 trucks. He’s trying to build a company with a reputation that speaks for itself.
We have over 50 five-star reviews across Google and Thumbtack. But more importantly, look at what those reviews actually say. You’ll see customers mention honesty, fair pricing, quick response times, and technicians who explained what was happening in plain English. We’re proud of our review count, but we’re more proud of the repeat customers and referrals that keep our schedule full. Most of our new customers come from someone who used us before and told their family, friends, or coworkers. That kind of word-of-mouth reputation can’t be bought or faked. It has to be earned one job at a time.
